(Reference: “REAL ESTATE WORKS” User Survey conducted in April, 2022. Sample Size: 795

Users who registered to the REAL ESTATE WORKS between April, 2021 to March, 2022 have been randomly selected for this survey. Based on the survey results, we have analyzed the data by dividing them into groups of people who “have experiences in the real estate industry” and who “are new to the industry,” and compared people who are in their 20s and who are in their 30s.

The most common reason for seeking a career change was “to increase salary” for both groups of different previous experiences in the industry, while the other popular answers varied among them.

◆The Top 2 Reasons for Job Change of People with Experiences in the Real Estate Industry are “to Increase Salary” and “to Improve Work-Life Balance”

The most popular answer was “to Increase Salary,” while roughly same amount of people also answered that they are seeking career change “to improve work-life balance.” Both people in their 20s and 30s had the same order of answers and identical percentage.

The following is the results when dividing the population into two groups; those who are in their 20s and those in their 30s.

Although many indicated that they hope “to increase salary,” some mentioned that they “want to raise their basic salary and annual income, instead of getting more incentive.” This may reflect that people with experiences in the industry are looking for a company that accurately evaluates their work and provides stable income.

For people in their 30s, the proportion of people who are seeking jobs “to increase salary” are relatively larger. More specifically, there were many answers which indicated that they “want to take days off on the weekend to spend time with their families,” or they “want to work at a company that has childcare leave.” Overall, people are seeking a job that also provides benefits, leaves etc. which matches their changing lifestyle.

In the third place, people answered that they want to change their career for “Career Advance.” It seems that many are interested in trying out works that require higher skills.

For instance, some said “I am in charge of property management, but I want to increase my knowledge in asset management to try jobs for that,” or, “I acquired sales skills by working for rental agencies, while I want to try working for condominium properties sales or sale and purchase agencies which deals with more expensive properties.”

If you are a company that is looking into attracting job applicants, it may be useful to emphasize how the job may allow the employees to increase skills, income, and get appropriately evaluated, especially in job posts and interviews.

Additionally, there were 13.9% of job seekers who wanted “to change job positions,” which suggests that there is some population that seeks increased income and skills in the same job position, while others seek different positions to improve work-life balance.

◆People without Experiences are Willing to Try Out

For people who do not have experiences in the real estate industry, the major reasons for job change were the below.

For people without experience in the real estate industry, the most popular answer for the reason for the job change was “to increase salary.” The proportion was 48.2%, which is twice the proportion of people with experiences who answered the same question.

There were only 7.7% of people who answered “to improve work-life balance,” and the reason “career advance” became the 2nd place.

Many people have an idea that the real estate industry “has a high salary” and therefore “wants to earn more.” Especially for sales positions, it is relatively easy to change from different industries as they have many commonalities in the tasks, and some say “the real estate industry is attractive because they often give incentives to employees.

When focusing on the people in their 20s, 50% of the sample answered “to increase salary,” and 24% answered “career advance” as their reason for seeking jobs. Again, it seems that the real estate industry is seen as a challenging opportunity to raise their income and advance their careers.

On the other hand, people in their 30s are also seeing the industry the same way, and 30% of the users of our website are also in their 30s.

In REAL ESTATE WORKS, we also post various job postings for people who are currently not in the real estate industry, and there are many successful examples where people changed their careers. For companies, it is beneficial to employ people in their 30s as they often have various skills and connections, experiences, and management skills from their previous job.

◆Prevalent Idea that Career in the Real Estate Industry is “Stable,” due to the Large Market Size

There were also many people who commented that they want to seek jobs in the real estate industry because “the market is large and stable,” and “it is irreplacable and neccessary in the future.” This indicates that there are multiple people who are seeking stability in the industry as well.
